Chiama Dove Siamo

Salina is a charming island, that not only offers breathtaking views and wonderful visits to untouched beaches and spectacular cliffs, but is also a great place for food and wine enthusiasts, above all as far as wine tasting is concerned.

Residence Salina staff will be pleased to show the best restaurants and canteens for wine tasting, seeing that the island is rich in wine farms: Hauner, Fedech, Colosi, D’amico; Caravaglio, Virgogna and Tasca d’Almerita that owns its own vineyards in Salina-

Hauner canteen, for example, was founded when the owner, who was from Brescia of bohemian origins, decided to live in Salina in the 70s after several  holiday periods spent in the island. Well known painter, Hauner was fascinated by the island and its colors that became the main features for his paints, and are actually reproduced in the labels of his wine bottles.  Not only Hauner fell in love with the island and its colors but also with the grapes, malvasia and the way to treat them. Grapes are dryed in the mats during the day, and recovered during the night, for several weeks.

WINE TASTING IN A PRESTIGIOUS CANTEEN IN SALINA

Wine tasting in Hauner’s canteen, with Hauner as a guide, is a unique experience: Salina Bianco I.G.T. , white wine blend of Inzolia and Cataratto. Salina Rosso 2011, red wine with Nero d’Avola, Nerello mascalese, Cabernet,  Corinto Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Nerello mascalese and Nocera. The experience goes on with liqueur-like vinnes, such as Malvasia delle Lipari 2009 Riserva, yellow gold color, tasy mature fruit, apricot mainly, and dried fruits, with an astonishing complexity and a long lasting flavor and an acidity that remains till the end.

The art of wine tasting experienced through the Residence confirms that Salina is the place to find an intimate sense of spiritual delight, in harmony with nature and its products
